Overview

This document outlines important disclaimers and limitations regarding PSI's educational resources on psychedelic public health and safety. PSI does not endorse, encourage, or facilitate the use of illicit substances. All our information is for educational purposes only and should not replace consultation with qualified healthcare providers.

Our content is based on publicly available information, non-representative surveys, and stakeholder interviews, with inherent limitations in scope and representation. Data analysis involved AI assistance and is subject to human error and interpretation variability. Individual psychedelic experiences vary greatly and may not be fully represented in our resources.

Users should be aware that some content may be triggering, particularly materials addressing harm and misconduct. We acknowledge that our resources provide a partial view of the rapidly evolving psychedelic ecosystem and welcome community feedback for improvements.

For a full list of disclaimers and limitations, see below.

Legal Disclaimer

PSI does not endorse, encourage, or facilitate the use of illicit substances. Our materials are for educational purposes only and do not constitute encouragement or instruction for illegal activities. Users are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable local, state, and federal laws regarding psychedelic substances.

Research and Information Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that content is complete, current, or free of errors.

Data Collection Limitations

  • Research was based on publicly accessible and journal database papers and sources, though not all relevant publications could be included

  • Data collection was limited by publicly available information and may not capture the full landscape

  • Content may reflect a US-centric perspective due to the availability of information, scope of research, and language limitations

  • The rapidly evolving nature of the psychedelic field means some information may be or become outdated

Survey and Interview Limitations

  • Field research is based on non-representative samples

  • Data may be subject to selection bias and does not represent the entire psychedelic field

  • Findings reflect the perspectives of respondents who were willing and able to participate

  • Underground and marginalized communities may be underrepresented in our data

  • Small sample sizes for certain populations (e.g., underground manufacturers, campus leaders) limit generalizability

Interpretation and Analysis

  • Large variance in opinions among respondents may lead to data skewing

  • Open-ended interview questions allow for multiple interpretations of responses

  • Analysis is subject to human error and potential coding errors

  • Findings represent PSI's interpretation based on agreed-upon criteria, which may differ from other analytical frameworks

  • Individual priorities and perspectives may differ from those presented in our analysis

AI and Use of Technology Disclaimer

Artificial intelligence (AI) was used to assist with data analysis and content development. AI-assisted analysis may contain errors or biases inherent to the technology. All AI-generated content has been reviewed by humans, including multiple rounds of review with community members and other stakeholders, but errors may persist. Users should verify important information through multiple sources.

Psychedelics and Medical Disclaimer

None of the content on this site constitutes medical advice. Information provided is for educational purposes only and should not replace consultation with qualified healthcare providers. Always consult qualified medical professionals for medical concerns. PSI does not provide medical recommendations regarding psychedelic use. We do not make claims about the medical or therapeutic efficacy of psychedelics for any condition. References to therapeutic applications are based on published research and do not constitute treatment recommendations.

While these materials aim to support harm reduction and safer experiences, psychedelic experiences carry inherent unpredictability and risks. No information provided guarantees safety or specific outcomes from psychedelic use.

Content Warnings and Sensitivity

Some materials, particularly those addressing misconduct and harm, may be triggering for individuals who have experienced trauma. Case studies and harm typologies discuss sensitive topics that may cause distress. Users should practice self-care when engaging with potentially triggering content.

Psychedelic experiences are highly individual and subjective. Not all experiences, worldviews, or outcomes are represented in our materials. The diversity of psychedelic experiences cannot be fully captured in any resource.

Transparency and Updates

The psychedelic field is rapidly evolving, and information may be or become outdated. We strive to update content regularly but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy. Users are encouraged to verify time-sensitive information through current sources.

We welcome feedback and corrections from the community. Features exist throughout all digital assets to provide feedback. Additional organizations, projects, and perspectives exist beyond those included in our resources.
